Photobucket

was driving home from badminton session (therefore in shorts and sport shoes) and saw ken-chan (ok not its real name but i just like to call it this way. bleh.). so I parked somewhere and crossed the road to play with it, until its owner came...

vid here:

btw, the name ken-chan is from the jdrama: kekkon dekinai otoko - a very witty and cute drama, and the dog even won a prize for that drama lolz.

My secret palette II and random stuffs

It was like 30deg today so I brought mum swimming =D. Somehow I can do freestyle better than breaststroke or backstroke miraculously (I used to do backstroke the best (frogkick+ reverse butterfly) followed by breaststroke). Anyway, mum hasn't swum for ages (infact never really swim well before (like me months ago)) so I'm just getting her to do the kick correctly. Met a gal who joined swimming lesson for the first time, and she asked me how long it does it take to know how to swim. So I told her bout my progress:

2 May : Joined swim class (to those who can't understand why some people don't know how to swim, we just don't have that much of animal instinct as you do, or perhaps we just lack that much of fats (that is less dense than water) )
16 May : Able to kick fast enough to float and move forward. Can do bit of breast stroke and backstroke

In the first few weeks, I practised twice (2 hours each) a week and I really keep kicking - for those who don't know how to swim, I think this is the biggest hurdle. You need to learn to kick straight (with a bit like pointy toe) and making big splashes. And of course you won't get it right away - the muscles need time to develope, but you just have to give it all you have and kick hard! Trust me, you will feel like a happy fish when you finally get it =D

and btw, happy birthday to Huangqing!!!

and since the weather was awesome, I hanged around in the garden after the swim...

our trip to the ultimate this-BIG waterfall =D

So it all started from Charlie wanted to go to the mounts with the ones under the same roof. And then Frank asked the 10k steps to join. Then Sorrell wanted to join. Then Sorrell said can his German friend come. Then I said ok he can come if he is cute. bla bla. So it goes from four people trip to like, sixteen =D

So we brainstormed/argued/fought for our opinions to be accepted (ok that's in my imagination) and I won (yes also in my imagination) and we decided to go to Sherbrook falls. To see the magnificient falls lol. After much huuhah thanks to the daylight savings and lazy bums, we finally reached the dandenong ranges:

Ljubljana - the undiscovered gem of europe

I know I should be coding/writing now but my blogging bug bitten me so hard that I can't stop the itch. lol. so here it goes.

I was visiting the Maribor Uni (Maribor is the 2nd largest city in Slovenia) and took some time off to the capital of Slovenia.

Ok. Let me first answer this question - where is Slovenia??

(circled in purple. I know. Such a gay colour. lol.)
Located in center europe, it's below Austria and next to Italy and Croatia. People speaks Slovene (under Slavic family) but the younger generations are pretty good in English. Yes, much better than the other european cities. Although the country has only 2 million people and is relatively small, it offers one of the best cuisine (I guarantee this) and awesome sceneries (alps, lakes (bled!!), caves etc). I didn't have much time to explore around but have already fell in love with the country.

Took a train from Maribor to Ljubljana:
Photobucket
Note: 'j' is pronounced as 'yi', so Ljubljana is pronounced as Lyublyana or I think easier as Liubliana.

Photobucket
very very green

Photobucket

Photobucket
cornfield. that reminded me of once, when we were marking exam paper, a student from Caufield wrote Cornfield as the exam venue. We just ROFL when we saw it.

Photobucket
exponential to the power of negative x plus exponential to the power of positive x = ??

Photobucket

Photobucket
one of the main attractions - Dragon Bridge, one of the famous three bridges of Lj. Coincidently it rained so heavily when we got to Lj - maybe the dark clouds are called by the dragon. spooky. lol.

There's an ancient castle on the nearby hill (walking distance. in fact, the city wasn't very big so it is possible to explore the city on foot). There's cable car that brings you up for around five euro I think. Bad memory edi T.T

Photobucket

Photobucket
Going up to the top of the castle

Photobucket
At one of the many art galleries in the castle. Apparently people here are very artsy. So many nice nice galleries pulak.

And then it rained cats and dogs so we were trapped in the castle. Decided to check out the cafe.

Photobucket
Surprisingly, the food wasn't too pricey for such nice environment. Just 2 euro for a glass of wine.

Photobucket
And continue to cw a bit since it's still raining out there.

Photobucket

Photobucket
meow

Photobucket
I was thinking 'there's a hole in my heart' when I took this.

Photobucket
Some spooky art gallery

Photobucket
Told ya it's spooky

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Back to the hotel. Stayed at Hotel Park for around 70euro per night. Oh btw, taxis here are cheap. Just 5 euro from train station to hotel, and 5 = pet in slovene. lol I remember this so well.

In short, it's a really lovely nice little city with lots to offer, and the best thing is, it's not packed with tourist like some other european cities. Therefore it's really really clean and adorable =p. Will write up on the town center next!
